FOR SALE: 1954 Seagrave "900-T" 75 ft Aerial ladder
truck, Tractor trailer type with rear tiller steering.
900 plus cubic inch V-12 engine with dual plugs points, distributors, coils,
fuel pumps and starters.
5-speed transmission, two power take off shafts. Brakes, Hydrovac boosted
fluid brakes ( not working, have not worked since I got it ) Hand operated
driveshaft brake ( used for parking but I was able to use it to move the truck
around ) Ladders: 75 ft metal aerial ladder, numerous wooden ladders
including a huge crew served ladder of over 40 ft. wooden ladders will need
refinishing. About 16000 road miles on the unit. There are documents
showing many mechanical components were repaired fairly recently. For example
the heads, gaskets, valves and guides were redone in 1975. And the clutch was
done in the 80's.
This is a solid truck with straight body work except one trailer fender was
removed by Kileen FD and never replaced. Current condition: Has not been
started in several years but has been stored inside on concrete. The fuel system
may need cleaning since it was not drained before storage. I am confident it
will start and run if properly prepped. It will probably need a major tune-up,
plugs wires etc to really run healthy. The hydraulic system was working
perfectly when stored. It has not leaked and I foresee no problems with it
operating once the truck is running. The paint is bad and needs total
restoration, but the metal is solid and only exhibits a little surface rust.
The interior needs complete replacement. Most of the electrical system was
operating when parked, emergency lights etc. Siren works perfectly.
Any other questions just check with me and I will try to clarify. Truck is
located in Amarillo Tx. Asking $7,500.

FOR SALE: I noted from your web-site that you accept ads from
non-members that are selling fire trucks. Attached are 2 photos, one of a 1937
Chevrolet Pumper and the other of a "CHILDS" open-cab style pumper. Both are
part of a collection of antique cars which we recently acquired. Both trucks
have been stored inside for at least the last 20-30 years, of which we can
account for. The earlier history of either is not know to us, or the family of
the deceased owner of the collection. The year of mfg. of the Childs we are not
certain of as well.
The Chevrolet appears to be a very original truck. The body and paint appear to
be solid. It is not rusted but the paint is dulled. The basic truck appears to
be complete as far as the chassis, motor, interior, dash, etc. There is one old
ladder, and some lights with the truck, and a couple of coils of fire hose.
Beyond that there is little equipment. Overall the truck looks like it would
start up and run with not too much more that a battery and some minor tune-up,
etc. According to our contact with the family this truck was last run approx.
10-12 years ago, and at the time it was placed in storage had no problems.
The Childs is a much larger, heavier vehicle. No one in the family can say with
certainty when the truck last ran. It appears to be complete under the hood. The
ignition cables are disconnected, but beyond that appears to be un-molested.
Again, there isn't a lot of equipment with the truck. It looks to be in good
solid condition, but otherwise I can tell you little about it.
Both of these trucks came out of the south, the collection was in North
Carolina. Neither shows the typical signs of rot/rust we see here in the
Northeast. The owner of this collection passed away 15 years ago, and
since then all of these vehicles were simply stored away. We are transporting
the whole collection back to Pennsylvania, where we are located just outside of
Harrisburg. The 37 Chevrolet will be here this weekend, and the Childs by next
weekend. If anyone might be interested, they can contact me at (717) 645-0334 by
phone, or by email at bob@stoneaire.com.
I will be happy to email additional photos of both trucks to any interested
party, and/or a complete list of other vehicles we will be selling, including a
number of other early trucks. Thank you, Bob Nauman. (11/14/04)
