FOR SALE:

Len Williams fire apparatus collection for sale (1-8-17 – – 17-15)

Reason: dramatic decline in health and I can no longer use them.

With the exception of the 1922 Ahrens-Fox high pressure rig, all have been stored inside.

Terms: Payment via cashier’s check required before title transferred. Sold ‘as is where is.’ Buyer will be responsible for removal and transportation to his or her location.

Items 1 and 2 are on loan and on display at the Michigan Firehouse Museum in Ypsilanti, MI.

Item 3 is in a restoration shop in MI.

The others are in Sunnyvale/San Jose California.

1. 1931 Ahrens-Fox M-X-2 piston pumper. Comes with 2-inlet deluge gun. Former Detroit F.D. rig. Asking $100,000

2. 1938 Seagrave sedan pumper, formerly E31 Detroit F.D. Comes with most equipment found on an in-service rig of that time. Big Seagrave V-12 motor. Asking $100,000.

3. 1922 Ahrens-Fox high-pressure rig (aka “boat tender”). Ex-Detroit F.D. Restoration incomplete, but about 85% complete. Twin to the one owned by the late Mike Adams. $40,000 invested so far. Best offer takes it.
4. 1949 American-LaFrance 700 Series 1000 gpm pumper, ex-Merced, CA. Open cab, small V-12 motor, American LaFrance bell, 3-inlet monitor, misc equipment. Good tire tread, always stored inside. Believed to be in good running condition, but sale is as is/where is. $12,500 OBO

5. 1940 Seagrave TDA, 85 ft. steel aerial, ex-Bakersfield, CA., bought directly from Bakersfield, and driven about 300 mi. from there back to Sunnyvale. Wood ground ladders. A small, but not insignificant, oil leak showed up when it was last garaged last fall. Health issues have prevented pursuing that, but otherwise it was a great running rig for over 35 yrs. Big Seagrave V-12, and largely equipped with the equipment of that era. Asking $20,000.

6 . 1928/29 Ahrens-Fox N-S-4 piston pumper, 1,000 gpm. Equipped with the equipment of that era, plus a 2-inlet deluge gun. Only the 2nd owner. Has traveled under its own power to musters and parades throughput the San Francisco Bay Area for over 50 years, and still runs like a top. Offer pending.

7. 1965 Coast (no longer extant), 1,000 gpm pumper, probably one of the last gasoline powered pumpers built. Rebuilt 813 cu in Waukesha motor. Effortlessly attains highway speeds. Former Sunnyvale, CA rig. Not accepting offers at this time since the Sunnyvale Public Safety Officers Association is buying it.

8. Spare big Seagrave V-12 motor. Highest offer takes it.
